GrantsNet
was established collaboratively by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) to speed the search for grants and other resources. A one-stop site, GrantsNet contains searchable databases of funding opportunities, links to fundersĄ Web sites and useful information about the funding process, such as tips on applying for grants.

These are by no means complete. Use most any portal above to search for funding opportuniites.

American Cancer Society
provides online applications and instructions, along with funding trends and a breakdown of research funding by state.
 
Howard Hughes Medical Institute presents information on grants and fellowships, including program information, application tips and a database of current fellows. A new HHMI program dispenses Precollege Science Education Grants.
 
National Institutes of Health
provides research funding information, grant policies, grant application kits, NIH grant FAQs and study section rosters.
 
National Science Foundation
provides well-organized grant information, inluding the Grant Proposal Forms Kit, the extensive Grant Proposal Guide and FAQs on the preparation of grant proposals.
 
National Research Council
includes information about graduate fellowships and postdoctoral and senior research accociateship awards.

Whitaker Foundation
Biomedical Engineering Research Grants that support research and education in biomedical engineering at academic institutions.
