Graduate Financial Support
BME Financial Support
Fellowship stipends and tuition waivers are available for select students. Distribution of these awards is based on GRE test scores, undergraduate performance, professional experience, and research/career objectives as outlined in a personal statement. We welcome inquiries for graduate information, applications, and catalogs.
Financial aid is also available in the form of research assistantships. The majority of students are supported by assistantships (which include health insurance coverage), offered both by the Department of Biomedical Engineering and by individual faculty members' research grants. Student loans are also available.

Outside Financial Support
We encourage applicants to apply independently for fellowships offered by the National Science Foundation and other organizations. Some of these confer a high degree of flexibility on recipients and offer excellent stipends. To obtain information on National Science Foundation fellowships, please contact: The Fellowship Office, National Research Council, 2101 Constitution Avenue, Washington, D.C. 20418; tel. (202) 334-2872. Contact should be made by early autumn.
Students should also look at the Whitaker Foundation as a source of support.
