Biographical Sketch
Yahfi is a Graduate student in Stony Brook University (SBU), pursuing his PhD in Biomedical Engineering. He received his Bachelors of Engineering from SBU in May 2011 and has decided to continue working in the lab. As an undergraduate, Yahfi joined the lab in 2009 and has worked on several projects. Over the years he has attended BMES (Austin, TX) and TERMIS (Orlando, FL) national conference to present his work. Apart from these conferences he has taken part in various events on campus. Most notable of these are the Sigma Xi 2011 Northeastern Research Symposium and URECA celebration. Yahfi was also named the undergraduate researcher of the month in June 2011.
As an undergraduate he has worked on photoacoustic stimulation for bone tissue engineering and has studied the in vivo toxicity of gadolinium single-walled carbon nanotubes in rats. For his graduate studies he plans on optimizing photoacoustic stimulation for tissue engineering using scaffolds reinforced with nanoparticles.
Apart from research Yahfi takes great interest in movies, video games and is a hobbyist photographer.
