  • Professor Sitharaman has been named a recipient of the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, 2010. This prestigious award is a key component of the NIH Roadmap for medical research and supports exceptionally creative early-career scientists who take highly innovative approaches to major challenges in biomedical research, Oct 2010.

  • Congratulations to Saathyaki for acceptance of their manuscript in the journal  Recent Patents in Biomedical Engineering, June 2010.

  • A recent abstract submitted by Pramod for a symposium at the Translational and Molecular Imaging Institute (TMII), the Mount Sinai School of Medicine got selected as the best abstract in the nanomedicine category. Pramod receives an award and will make a podium presentation. Congratulations! May 2010.

  • Congratulations to Saathyaki for successfully defending his masters thesis, May 2010.

  • Jessica Hsu, our high school Simon's fellow recently received several awards at the Bay Area regional science fair Synopsys for her summer project. She was awarded four special awards:
    1st place in the Senior Division of selected projects that "utilize science with ingenuity, creativity, and diligent effort" awarded by the American Vacuum Society (AVS), Electronic Materials Symposium Scholarship Award, Honorable Mention Award by the United States Army, Honorable Mention Award "recognizing excellence in science project involving materials technology" by the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE). In addition, She was also awarded the 1st place award for the technical paper category. She will be starting her undergraduate studies this fall at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Congratulations to Jessica on her outstanding acheivements, April 2010.

  • Our article Physics in Medicine and Biology paper, "In-vivo carbon nanotube-enhanced non-invasive photoacoustic mapping of the sentinel lymph node", has been chosen as one the Featured Article for the year 2009. The article was selected for its presentation of outstanding new research, receipt of the highest praise from the journal's international referees and the highest number of downloads last year, Jan 2010.
