Alex Atwood is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Suffolk County Community College. He received a B.S. in Engineering Physics, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Nuclear Science and Engineering from Cornell University. He also received an M.S. in Applied Mathematics and an Executive Master of Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology. Prior to teaching at Suffolk Community College, he worked at Kearfott Guidance and Navigation Corporation on the research and development of micro-electromechanical inertial navigation systems. His research interests are in the use of Near Infrared Spectroscopy to quantify limbic system dysregulation.
